
Stuart Gottlieb
Stuart Gottlieb is Director of Policy Studies at the Jackson Institute for Global Affairs at Yale and a lecturer in the political science department. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on U.S. foreign policy, counterterrorism, and international policy analysis.
Prior to coming to Yale in 2003, Gottlieb worked for five years in the United States Senate, first as senior foreign policy advisor to Senator Charles Schumer of New York, and subsequently as policy advisor and chief speechwriter for Senator Christopher Dodd of Connecticut. He has also worked on several political campaigns, including New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani's reelection campaign in 1997 and presidential campaign in 2008, and Vice President Al Gore's presidential campaign in 2000.
Gottlieb regularly publishes op-eds and other policy-related articles, and published an edited volume in 2010 entitled *Debating Terrorism & Counterterrorism* (Congressional Quarterly Press).
Gottlieb holds a BA in political science and journalism from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and two MA degrees and a Ph.D. in international relations from Columbia University.
