The Graduate Teaching Center contributes to the excellence of teaching and learning at Yale University by preparing graduate students to participate in the classroom as teaching fellows and future faculty members. Its programs encourage thoughtful experimentation with both traditional and innovative methods of teaching, enabling graduate students to respond in a nuanced way to the diversity of learning styles they will encounter among their students and assess their performance as they develop a philosophy of teaching. The Center seeks to foster intellectual community by training a cadre of graduate fellows as workshop facilitators, teaching consultants, and leaders, as well as by initiating productive conversations about teaching between and among teaching fellows, faculty members, and administrators.
